The use of this capability will require a user with a U.S. General Class license or higher or the assistance of a system Control Operator having the appropriate license.
The 10 meter remote will NOT be allowed for use in conjunction with an IRLP connection to any of the system IRLP nodes.
This 10 meter remote base on 29.600Mhz will be available via the system in the near future.
The remote consists of a GE Master II M, MC7413A series, 110 Watt transceiver that has the receiver noise blanker installed, a necessity at HF. It is using an omni-directional Shakesphere Big-Stick cut to resonate on the 10m band mounted up 70 feet in a Pine tree fed with Belden 9913F.
When 10 meters is open, it will provide excellent FM worldwide QSO's as 10 meter FM is a DX blast when band conditions are good.
At first this unit will only be crystaled for the simplex calling frequency of 29.600Mhz with one 5C ICOM and one EC ICOM. Later additional repeater pair frequecies may be added with DTMF selection provided. The unit will be setup for operation at about 50-75 watts. Later it may also have a DTMF PL encode/decode capability for operating 10 meter repeaters as well.
All this equipment is ready for use now, however this 10m FM remote will not be accessible on the hub until after the new controller comes on line. Prior to the new controller, a system may be devised to select between use of the IRLP or 10m Remote Base as the current controller can only support one remote connection.
Please note that a General Class license of higher will be required for use of this remote.
